Abstract

This study looks at the impact of the COVID-19 public health emergency on the employment situation in the City of Buenos Aires, taking into account changes in the workplace and working time; home-based work and teleworking; and the public contribution in the payment of wages, based on data from the new question block in the third and fourth quarters of 2020 in the Quarterly Survey of Occupation and Income (ETOI) and the Annual Household Survey (EAH), respectively. Additionally, it seeks to describe the main challenges involved in transitioning to a new labour force survey that incorporates the international recommendations consolidated in the 19th and 20th International Conference of Labour Statisticians (ICLS), a set of articles presented by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in the context of the pandemic and the measurement tools for labour force surveys in some Latin American countries.
